During 2013 BCTL carried out a strategic study of the National Payments System (NPS) in Timor-Leste. The results of this study were presented at a public seminar and were endorsed in the “Strategy for the Development of the Timor-Leste National Payments System”.
The strategy articulates the overall vision and strategies for the NPS in Timor-Leste for the next three to five years.
The overall vision provides general information on the current NPS, outlines a future vision for the NPS in terms of its specific elements, and defines a high-level strategy for implementing the vision. Internationally accepted principles and practice are highlighted and elaborated from the perspective of the specific circumstances in Timor-Leste, and guide the overall vision.
The strategic action plan is complementary to the vision and contains practical details on the execution of individual development projects that are required to achieve the envisioned NPS.
The “Strategy for the Development of the Timor-Leste National Payments System” is trilingual (Tetun, Portuguese, English).
