Timor-Leste Officials, representing its National Commission on the fight against money laundering and financing of terrorism (CNCBC), participated the 19th APG/ML Annual Meeting and Technical Assistance Forum in San Diego, California, USA from September 5 – 8’ 2016. The delegation consisted of Unidade de Informação Financeira (UIF), Scientific and Criminal Investigation Police (PCIC) and Business Registry (SERVE).
The meeting which hosted by US Government/Treasury Department was co-chaired by Mr Rajesh Chhana, Deputy Secretary Policy, of the New Zealand Ministry of Justice and Ms Leanne Close, Deputy Secretary, Criminal Justice Group, Australian Attorney-General’s Department.
As an APG member, Timor-Leste is required to attend annual meetings to discuss issues, situation, and facts related to AML/CFT. Main issues discussed during this annual meeting covered the following: governance; mutual evaluations; global AML/CFT network; typologies; technical assistance and training; etc.
